Storytelling by Brands - Part 1 - Product Promotion Campains
What Exactly Is Storytelling?
Telling stories is something deeply wreathed in the history of the human being. We use it to convey information. No matter if on purpose or unconsciously, everyone thirsts for knowledge, especially if it is wrapped in an interesting and entertaining story.
We narrate stories and sagas ever since the start of our existence. But with the time passing by, the sort of medium we use to tell stories change. From cave paintings picturing a dangerous hunt to fairy tales about princesses and witches, until this very day, we use different types of forms to give information and catch the listener’s attention.
The reasons why we are so obsessed with stories is inter alia the fact that they contain messages and answer questions we ask ourselves all the time. Another reason for our love for stories is that they offer the opportunity to identify ourselves with certain characters showing up in a narration.
Telling stories using video:
We live in the era of visual storytelling. We no longer expect all visual content to be designs, graphics, presentations, etc. In fact an increasing number of people are inclined to see meaningful videos.
One of the best ways to tell stories is by using videos. Our conscious mind would like us to believe that we make rational decisions. Our sub-conscious mind knows better. Virtually all buying decisions are emotional decisions. If you want your viewer to watch and remember your message then you have to connect with them on an emotional level.
Show me, don’t tell me:
Video is a visceral experience that engages the audience both visually and orally. Why just explain how thing works when you can actually show people using and benefiting from it? Video is gaining popularity because it is the best means of conveying a great deal of information quickly to an attention-deficit audience. Video is particularly effective when you need to showcase the more intangible benefits.
Storytelling by brands - Product Promotion
As already mentioned, stories are told to awake the audience’s interest, to keep them thrilled. So, advertising campaigns are a welcome opportunity to use storytelling.
If a company has a certain product it wants to present to the customers, it has to be original and entertaining. Especially nowadays where thousands of brands try to reach out to potential customers, the audience’s attention isn’t easy to get. So an entertaining and catchy campaign idea is needed to make the audience prick up their ears.
Example: Here is a promotional video campaign for Charu Jewels to showcase it’s jewellery collection based on different look and occasion.
Our video productions vary according to campaign and budget, although they’ll usually follow the following framework:
Storytelling: Audiences connect much better with video that has a clear narrative structure. Before we think too much about the creative execution of the idea, we think about the journey the video needs to take, from beginning to end.
Filming: We create a compelling story and script, cast the talent, find the right locations and film the shoot using proven techniques.
Editing: Then it’s over to our post-production team to pull your story and messages through. We love using animation and motion graphics to illustrate complex ideas or liven up facts and figures.
